Who are we

Social Action Trust Fund (SATF) is registered under the Trustee's Incorporation Ordinance (Cap 375) of 1956. The Trust commenced its activities in April 1998. SATF is dedicated to support Most Vulnerable Children(MVC) and to address the impact resulted by HIV/ AIDS and poverty in Tanzania. This is achieved through provision of grants to NGOs, FBOs and CBOs registered in Tanzania. The Trust operations including grants are supported from earnings from its investments made from the Endowment fund. The creation of the Endowment fund was made by USAID . The Endowment Fund has been invested to continuously generate funds for grant making as well as to meet operational costs. Its Passion, Unity and dedication that has enabled us to achieve our objectives of supporting Most Vulnerable Children and mitigate other impacts resulted by HIV and AIDS and poverty in Tanzania.
We invest our Endowment fund and use earnings for those investments to meet our grant making commitments. This strategy assists the Trust to support MVC in a sustainable manner.
We collaborate with reputable grassroots Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to support MVC in addressing impacts resulting from HIV and AIDS and poverty.
We mobilize funds from donors, individuals and corporates to complement our support to MVC.

Board Of Trustees

SATF is governed by the Board of Trustees comprising of five distinguished members of the community from diverse professionals such as finance, consulting, human resource, social work, philanthropy, law and management. The Trust taps exceptional talents coupled with a passion to support Tanzanian’s Most Vulnerable Children and addressing impacts resulted by HIV and AIDS. The Board of Trustees provides strategic directions, financial oversight and aspiration.

Structure & Department

Financial & Administration

Finance and Administration Department is the support (operations) wing for the Trust. It is conferred with the responsibility of ensuring perfection, availability and appropriate dissemination of financial information. It is therefore responsible with providing the financial support to the Fund’s noble calling of Supporting MVC at both Operating (incumbent) level and ensuring sustainability in the long run.
Through this wing, Investments are undertaken and managed, income managed, expenditure monitored and Financial Accounting reports produced for various stakeholders’ needs. Moreover, internally, the Department ensures that other sections of the Fund such as program department and Information Technology Unit receive support in Financial Management issues such as facilitating financial pre-award assessments, Grant disbursements, financial documents verification, Financial Training to IPs and staff financial welfare. The Department is also the pillar in Administrative matters i.e. provides of all facilities such as an ambient working environment for the staff, service delivery for Program, Implementing Partners and Consultants. The Department has a full team that offers an assortment of logistical requirements such as chauffer services, banking services, travel arrangements as well as procurement logistics.

Management Structure

The day to day operations of the Trust are managed by the Chief Executive Officer supported by the Program and Finance and Administration Managers. There are two major departments, namely; Program department and Finance & Administration Department. In addition the Fund has Information Technology Unit.

Program Department

The Program department is responsible for issues regarding program implementation and grants management. The program department is as well responsible for resource mobilization, designing relevant programs and monitoring the implementation of the programs and reporting. The department is responsible for overseeing the policies on; grants disbursements with the Implementing Partners and grants applications to the general public. The program further coordinates the capacity building component for Implementing Partners to ensure quality service delivery.
