The project started in 2009 and concluded in 2012.It aimed at supporting Caregivers to establish Income Generating Activities so that they can be able to support MVC in their households sustainably. The project was implemented by SATF in partnership with Tanzania Mission to the Poor (PADI) in Songea Municipality in Ruvuma region. The project was implemented in three zones of Madaba, Lilondo and Matetereka in Songea district, Ruvuma region.
|A total of 875 beneficiaries (247 direct & 641 indirect) have been reached with loans and direct provision of fees and scholastic materials for education support.|
|Good progress of established Income Generating Activities which resulted into good loan repayment progress, increased loan ceiling per beneficiary from Tshs. 75,000 in 2009 to Tshs. 210,000 in 2012 and increased support to MVC among the beneficiaries across all zones.|
|Increased knowledge and awareness on the importance of savings among the project beneficiaries as demonstrated by presence of accumulated amount of savings of about 2 million for beneficiaries.|
This is one of the projects under Community Empowerment program established in 2009.It has been implemented by different four SATF partner organizations namely; Tikvah Homes (Dodoma), HUMULIZA & KARADEA (Kagera) and MUVUMA (Shinyanga). The projects provided animals(goats) and livestock as seed capital to MVC Care givers whom in turn are supposed to pass on animals to next beneficiaries after seed animal have reproduced.
|IGA beneficiaries from Dodoma have scaled up the number of beneficiaries from 25 in 2009 to 50 in 2012 and from 30 to 45 in Kagera region.|
